When: Wednesdays from 9th October to 6th November, 6:30-9:00PM
Cost: £35 per class, or £150 for all 5 (saving £25!)
Dive into the mystical realm of divination with Madame Culpeper! Each week we will explore the history and traditions of different forms of divination using tools to tune into your intuition, learning how to properly prepare yourself and your space for readings, and exploring your sense of intuition with ease. We will journey through the fundamentals of Tarot, Runes and Symbol Casting, Palmistry, Tea Leaf Reading, Scrying, and Crystal Ball gazing plus many other lesser known tools. You will get to play and explore what “clicks” for your own personal sense of intuition, and learn to craft practices to support readings within your personal life.
This course will run once weekly on a Wednesday for five weeks, and each class will last 2.5 hours. Each week builds on the last, but there is no requirement to attend all 5 sessions. However, if you book all 5 classes today, a £25 discount will be applied at checkout!
Week 1 (9 Oct.): Tarot and Cards
In this class you will learn a short history of Tarot and cards as a Divination Tool: from ancient Egyptian tablets to Tudor-era playing cards, all the way through to the Rider-Waite-Smith system, oracle cards, and much more. You will learn about the Fool's Journey through the Major Arcana, the formulaic and numerological elements of the Minor Arcana, and how to prepare your energy to read. You will get practical experience of card reading and learn a few different techniques and spreads as a group.
Week 2 (16 Oct.): Runes and Symbol Casting
In Week 2's class you will learn about the concept from Norse tradition of connecting to the “Wyrd” – the philosophy of the interconnectedness of energies represented by the Tree of Life. You will learn about Norse Runes, the primal stories behind the runic alphabet and how they connect with us still. You will get to cast a rune reading and explore a deepening with the meanings. Additionally, we will discuss “Witch Runes” and the celtic “Ogham” that evolved from the same concept of casting stones or wooden sticks, as well as trying Desh and symbolic object casting.
Week 3 (23 Oct.): Palmistry
In this class you will learn the history of palmistry and its many-branching proposed origins in ancient Mesopotamia, Rome, India, and China (resulting in a rich tapestry of cross-cultural referencing). We will explore the broader reading palmistry offers compared to the more specific “moment in time” readings from the forms of divination we have already explored, and discuss how "lines change as we change". We will explore the lines of our own hand as well as each other's, and discuss our experience as a group.
Week 4 (30 Oct.): Tea Leaf Reading
This class will explore the history of tea leaf reading and similar practices around the world. Participants will get to choose their own tea and participate in a short guided meditation on the sensory elemental aspects of the brew before reading and interpreting shapes and positions of leaves in the cup. We will also explore how to engage other forms of divination to gain clarity about our reading.
Week 5 (6 Nov.): Scrying, Crystal Balls and Intuition Tools
This class is all about expanding our trust in our own intuition using tools and exercises such as meditation, scrying, or crystal ball gazing. We will learn about the ‘clairs’, and which of you senses are most communicative for your intuition. We will also explore how using tools such as pendulums, rings, dowsing rods can help you to perceive your own inner knowing and guidance more clearly. In this final class we will be knitting it all together, reflecting on the weeks preceding, what “clicks” and what doesn’t, general learning and how to carry what you've learned forward into the future.
