The ornamental design here draws heavily on the shapes used in Gothic architecture, which can be seen all around the city of Edinburgh adorning its historic churches and buildings.

Abi Salvesen is an illustrator and graphic designer from Edinburgh. She creates eclectic digital illustrations inspired by ancient artforms like illumination, gilding, tattooing and architecture. In contrast to the digital medium, her illustrations have a soft, retro feel that comes from the layering of paperlike textures and grainy shading.
