“Swallows” - Print by Abigail Salvesen

This piece is based on the traditional tattoo design of two symmetrical swallows, often said to represent the overcoming of adversity, or a kind of rebirth for the wearer of the tattoo.

Abi Salvesen is an illustrator and graphic designer from Edinburgh. She creates eclectic digital illustrations inspired by ancient artforms like illumination, gilding, tattooing and architecture. In contrast to the digital medium, her illustrations have a soft, retro feel that comes from the layering of paperlike textures and grainy shading.
